Drones in Australia

Currently in NZ where I thought drone rules might be a little more accomodating. At least it is possible to apply for a permit but DoC ranger told me Id have to apply for a permit and that would take "at least 5 days and you wont get one anyway"

. Told me it best to leave your drone at home if you're visiting. It also appears that privacy rules are also quite inhibiting so you MUST get permission before flying over private land. The weather was crap for the first few days so not suitable for droning and any opportunities passed as we moved on each day. Meanwhile, helicopters and light aircraft fly around like blowflies, low and noisy, in the glacier and fjiord regions.

Am I drinking my bath water? Lately I have been flying a DJI Mini2 without any problems but on the last 2 attempts I keep getting "RC not connected". Have I done something I shouldn't have, or not done something I should have????? "I can't seem to get the R/C and the drone to talk to each other. I haven't messed with anything. It worked on one occasion and wouldn't connect on the next. Anything I can do [except stop drinking the bath water 😂} Any help sincerely appreciated as it is very frustrating.

Hello! I'm travelling to Perth in August, and we plan to drive all the way along the northern coast to Brisbane in roughly three months. I have a European registered DJI Mini 3 Pro which I would like to bring along, but the regulations are not entirely clear to me. I have found the Queensland and West Australia are quite lenient in letting these small drones fly in national parks (with some restrictions clearly), but the Northern Territory seems somewhat restrictive. It is my understanding that I need to obtain a permit for national park in NT, but it isn't clear what parks are included, and which not. Could anyone point me to some useful information and things I need to take into account to fly my drone in this beautiful country? Thanks!
