Recreational vs Commercial drone use in Mozambique
Mozambique does not seem to differentiate commercial & recreational drone use - see our post to differentiate recreational vs commercial drone usage. However, both are subject to restrictions & a strict code of conduct. Additionally, depending on your drone's weight & your destination within the country, different rules will apply.

Can I travel to Mozambique with my drone?
✅ Currently, there doesn't seem to be any restrictions on bringing drones within Mozambique as long as your import is considered as legitimate (generally one drone per person).
🚨 Be aware of the airline you purchase to travel as some main ones will only accept your drone on-board if its batteries are detached & placed in a firecase during travel time. Most airlines will have a battery voltage limit based on the recommendation of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). You can find more info about a specific airline here.
Where can I fly my drone in Mozambique?
✅ We did not find an official fly zone map for drones in Mozambique "If you have more information about this, please let us know anytime". Thankfully, app.airmap.io has listed all flight zones in a convenient way organised in a 3 color legend:
blue = special use airspace
purple = restricted airspace
orange = airport airspace

🚨 Avoid flying above or near military installations & strategic infrastructure. Fly away from airports & any aerodromes or airports in the country.
🦅 National parks & reserves are on a case by case permission & you might need to check directly with the local park or reserve authorities.
Recreational & Commercial Drone use in Mozambique
✅ In Mozambique, there don't seem to be many official restrictions or laws around recreational and commercial drone use. Local authorities seem actually quite keen according to the Amovant Facebook Group which is a non for profit organisation looking to promote and train local pilots to fly drones in Mozambique skies. Saying this, it isn't because their aren't any official regulation that you should do crazy things. As for a minimum behavior, it is always advised to:
fly away from airports, heliports & give priority to all other categories of aircraft. If you see an aircraft during your flight, land immediately.
keep your drone in visual sight when flying and fly below 120 m during daylight.
avoid flying above people without their consent or moving vehicles.
ask before flying any governmental, archaeological, religious or military sites.
fly away from a fire or any site where emergencies are required as you could interrupt their operation and delay their intervention.
