Recreational vs Commercial drone use in Albania
Albania does not differentiate commercial & recreational drone use - see our post to differentiate recreational vs commercial drone use. Both uses are not regulated officially in the country just yet.
✅ In countries without any regulation around drone use, the use of airspace would by default revert onto the country's civil or national aviation authority. In Albania, this would fall under Albanian Civil Aviation Authority (AAC). You can contact them via email at info@acaa.gov.al or via phone at (+355) 4 22 51 220.
🚨 Saying this, it isn't because their aren't any official regulation that you should do crazy things. As for a minimum behavior, it is always advised to:
Avoid flying your drone near the unique airport in Tirana (the capital city).
Keep your drone in visual sight when flying and fly below 120 m during daylight.
Avoid flying your drone above people without their consent or moving vehicles.
subscribe to an insurance covering all risks.
Ask before flying your drone over public & military facilities.
Can I bring my drone to Albania?
✅ Currently, there doesn't seem to be any restrictions on bringing drones within Albania (Tirana) as long as your import is considered as legitimate (generally one drone per person).
🚨 Be aware of the airline you purchase to travel as some main ones will only accept your drone on-board if its batteries are detached & placed in a firecase during travel time. Most airlines will have a battery voltage limit based on the recommendation of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). You can find more info about a specific airline here.
Where can I fly my drone in Albania?
✅ We did not find an official fly zone map for drones in Albania "If you have more information about this, please share it in the Forum". Thankfully in the meantime, app.airmap.io has listed all flight zones in a convenient way organised in a 3 color legend.

🚨 Its been reported that you might need to declare informally your drone at borders but this remains a very sketchy process (written on a white paper) - more info.
🌲 National / Marine parks & reserves might be on a case by case permission & you might need to check directly with the local park or reserve authorities. 🐳
